About Department

The role of statistics as a means of data analysis and decision making under uncertainty has expanded vastly in the past few years. Decisions regarding planning, development spread of services, etc., whether on the national scale or at a local scale are all based on statistical analysis. Also, industries, bio pharmaceutics, insurance, investments, market research etc are major users of statistical methodology. Statistical methods play an important role in quality matters as laid down in the current ISO standards.

The Department of Studies in Statistics was founded in 1977 with the view of providing professionally competent academicians for Teaching, Research and training in application of Statistics. Under the abled leadership of Prof.B.M.Mundinamani ,V.S.Kattimath and Dr.Raghu A. Akamanchi
